We provide the following services:

The scanning laser that is now available at Jensen Eye care provides greater ability to diagnose macular degeneration than ever before.  Dilation and retinal photography also allow better care of retinal and macular conditions.   Macular degeneration and retinal disease are best diagnosed and treated early and then monitored frequently in order to provide the best hope of maintaining vision.  Newer therapies provide greater hope than ever before.
Contact lens fitting is an extension of the comprehensive eye examination.  Additional testing includes measurements for and trial fitting of contact lenses.  Special attention will also be given to the cornea and tear film.  Instruction on insertion, removal, care and cleaning of contact lenses as well as instruction about solutions will be provided.  Temporary trial contact lenses will be dispensed and follow-up visits will be made as necessary to provide for optimum comfort and vision.  Follow up care is important to contact lens success and is included in contact lens fitting fees.
Digital photography has made photographic documentation of both internal and external eye conditions much easier and much more valuable.  Photographic documentation not only provides a baseline to compare to, but allows us to measure the effectiveness of therapies.  Photography also is a wonderful educational tool and when a patient can see what the doctor sees, they are much more likely to be compliant with treatment recommendations.  Healthcare insurance and Medicare will often cover most or all of photographic documentation charges.
Visual FieldVisual field testing measures peripheral vision.  Visual field testing is especially important in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and/or neurological disease. Most visual field testing relates to the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.  However, sometimes visual fields are necessary when there is concern about strokes, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors and trauma to the brain.
Dr. Jensen accepts new patients who are not being helped by current therapies, whether those therapies are optical devices like glasses or contact lenses or if the problem is more of a medical problem.  To schedule a consultation please call 307-265-7008.
Everyone with diabetes needs to have an annual dilated examination of the retina.  The eyes are a window to what is happening in the rest of the body in relationship to diabetic vascular disease. Baseline retinal photography as well as scanning laser technology improves our ability to diagnose and document diabetic retinopathy.  Patients who are conscientious about getting their annual dilated exam are much more likely to be aware of their condition and to be motivated to control blood sugars.
The standard comprehensive eye examination has two objectives.  First, we measure the visual system to find out if the eyes are focused and aligned properly.  Second, we look for any evidence of eye health problems.  Testing routinely includes refraction (examination for glasses), glaucoma testing, topography of the cornea, wavefront analysis and internal and external evaluation of the eye.  Periodically a dilated eye exam will be recommended and does not include additional fees.
Many patients assume that their eyes are healthy and that they don’t need to worry about such things.  However many eye diseases sneak up on us. Patients are often unaware that they are at risk of serious eye health problems.  Yearly eye examinations are recommended not so much because a persons glasses or contacts might be out of focus, but because eye health needs to be looked at on regular yearly intervals.
New technologies allow earlier detection and better management of glaucoma than ever before.  Glaucoma medications now available are much more effective than medications of the past.  Some of these technologies that are available at Jensen Eye care include: tonometry, visual field testing, nerve fiber layer analysis, stereo photography of the optic nerve head and pachimetry.
The optical department at Jensen Eye Care is staffed by professionals whose primary concern is to assist each and every patient in selecting eyewear that will compliment their personal style as well as their lifestyle.  Our staff is well trained in new lens technologies and is extremely successful at matching lifestyle and lens technology in order to create an eyewear product that is customized to the individual.  We have over 650 frame styles in our optical department in order to satisfy the personal styling taste of each patient.  Every pair of glasses is a customized product.  We also promise to stand behind that product if, for any reason, there is a problem.
The technology we are the most excited about is scanning laser technology.   Scanning laser is non-invasive; it allows the doctor to examine the microscopic structures of the eye without using a knife or a biopsy needle.  It further allows examination of multiple different microscopic structures of the retina and optic nerve.  This aids in earlier detection of disease as well as management of existing disease.  The OCT cirrus scanning laser is the top of the line laser now available in the world.  It is extremely valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, macular disease and retinal disease in general.
Eye health evaluation is part of the normal comprehensive eye examination.  Dilation is necessary to effectively exam the internal health of the eye.  If cataracts are present and visually significant, Dr Jensen will refer the patient for cataract surgery. Dr. Jensen has excellent professional relationships with local surgeons.  At an appropriate time after surgery, the cataract surgeon will send the patient back to Dr. Jensen for glasses as well as regular eye health management.
Irritated eyes and blurred vision caused by poor tear film is probably the most common eye health problem seen at Jensen Eye care.  Dr Jensen has taken a special interest in diagnosing and treating dry eye problems.  Thankfully, new therapies are available that help many patients achieve greater comfort and more stable vision.  Also, it is important to know that health insurance and Medicare generally assist in the treatment of dry eyes.
Conjunctivitis is a term that is used to describe a broad range of conditions.  Conjunctivitis, the swelling and sometimes infection of the conjunctiva (the white of the eye) can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergies, or exposure to toxic chemicals.  Dr Jensen routinely diagnoses and treats conjunctivitis.
Refractive surgery has been enthusiastically embraced by thousands of patients in Wyoming.  Most of the care provided for refractive surgery patients happens, not with the surgeon, but with Dr. Jensen both before and after surgery.  The success of the surgery is very much dependent on careful evaluation of refractive stability and corneal health.  Multiple visits to Dr Jensen prior to refractive surgery allow the surgeon greater accuracy in the surgery itself.  Post-operative care is also provided for one year after surgery including a comprehensive examination at the end of the first year.  Much care is taken to insure the best possible outcome for our loyal patients.
Welders, machinists, mechanics and handymen are prone to getting foreign material in their eyes.  Oftentimes particles of metal become embedded in the cornea.  If the particle is not removed and treated quickly the eye will become quite painful.  Dr. Jensen is available for prompt, same day, care during office hours and also for after hour’s treatment of eye injuries.  Treatment of eye injuries at Jensen Eye Care is not only significantly less expensive than emergency room care, but is faster and less painful.  Dr. Jensen is trained to treat eye injuries and has both the expertise and the equipment to return patients to normal activities as quickly as possible.  His after hours phone number is 307-265-0999 (home) or 307-251-0680 (cell)
